Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals section, holding a sign with your name, ready to greet you and begin your Sicilian adventure.
If you happen to miss your connecting flight, it’s essential to contact the local emergency number as soon as possible to reschedule your transfer. In case of a flight delay, kindly notify the same number immediately, so the driver can adjust the pickup time accordingly.
If you experience any issues with lost or delayed luggage, please be aware that the driver cannot enter the customs area to find you. It’s recommended to notify the driver through the customs police office to avoid any misunderstandings.
Your driver will wait for up to 45 minutes after your landing time. If no communication is received, the transfer will be considered a no-show, and no refund will be issued. However, if you notify us and request the driver to wait longer, an additional fee of €30 per hour will apply.
After meeting your driver, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Siracusa, where your journey on the beautiful and welcoming island of Sicily truly begins!
Day 2
Day 2 – The Best of Siracusa
Your day begins at 9:00 AM with a guided exploration of Siracusa, one of the Mediterranean’s true gems and a cultural capital of ancient Magna Grecia. You’ll meet your guide at your hotel or in the city center, then take a short taxi ride to the Siracusa Archaeological Park. Here, you’ll marvel at historic landmarks like the Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Paradise Quarry, all set against the breathtaking natural beauty of southeastern Sicily.
Siracusa offers an unparalleled blend of cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, from dramatic cliffs to serene beaches. The city is divided between the island of Ortigia and the mainland, offering diverse coastal views and a mix of historical and natural wonders, such as river valleys and vibrant limestone quarries. This distinctive setting, combined with its archaeological treasures, creates a truly unique experience.
After the Archaeological Park, you’ll return to the city center by taxi to begin a guided walking tour of Ortigia Island, the historic heart of Siracusa. Connected to the mainland by the Umbertino Bridge, Ortigia showcases Siracusa’s rich history as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in 735 B.C. by colonists from Corinth, Siracusa was once a rival to Athens in power and influence. As you stroll through Ortigia’s charming streets, you’ll visit highlights like the Baroque-style Dome, the Arethusa Fountain, Maniace Castle (external view), the Temple of Apollo, and the elegant palaces surrounding the island.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, offering time to further explore Siracusa on your own. For a special treat, consider an optional sunset boat tour around Ortigia with an aperitif—a perfect way to end a memorable day in this extraordinary city.
Day 3
Day 3 – From Siracusa to Palermo
Your journey begins at 8:30 AM as you meet your driver and depart from Siracusa, heading towards Piazza Armerina. Here, you’ll visit the incredible Roman Villa of Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This luxurious Roman villa, built in the 4th century AD and rediscovered through 20th-century excavations, showcases stunning mosaics spread across 3,500 square meters. Likely the residence of an elite Roman, the villa is an extraordinary testament to ancient art and architecture.
After time for an independent lunch, you’ll continue to Agrigento to explore another UNESCO site: the Valley of the Temples. A local guide will lead you through this remarkable archaeological area, where you’ll admire ancient landmarks such as the Temples of Hera, Concordia, Hercules, and Zeus. Agrigento, with its roots in 582 B.C., was a prominent Greek city, rich in culture and history. Known as Akragas in ancient times, it was celebrated for its beauty and cultural significance, housing philosophers like Empedocles and earning Pindar’s praise as “the most beautiful of mortal cities.” The temples, built during its golden age in the 5th century B.C., remain awe-inspiring to this day.
Following your exploration of Agrigento, you’ll continue your journey to Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily, where you’ll conclude this unforgettable day immersed in history and culture.
Day 4
Day 4 – The Capital of Sicily and Monreale
Your day begins at 9:00 AM with a guided exploration of Monreale and Palermo, showcasing the pinnacle of Arab-Norman art and architecture. After being picked up from your hotel in Palermo, you’ll head to Monreale by taxi to visit the stunning Cathedral, a masterpiece launched in 1174 by William II. The cathedral’s golden mosaics, depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, are a breathtaking highlight of this UNESCO-recognized heritage.
Returning to Palermo, your walking tour continues through the historic city center. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of an open-air street market, a lively reminder of Palermo’s Saracen Arab heritage, where you’ll also enjoy a tasting of local street food. As you stroll, admire iconic landmarks such as the “Four Corners” (Quattro Canti), a quartet of Baroque palaces from the era of Spanish rule, Piazza Pretoria, and Via Maqueda.
The tour concludes at Piazza Verdi, home to the impressive Massimo Opera Theatre. The afternoon is yours to explore Palermo at your own pace. For a unique experience, consider an optional cooking class where you’ll prepare and dine with locals—an enriching way to end your day.
Day 5
Day 5 – Marsala and Erice
Your day begins with a departure to Erice, a charming hilltop town steeped in history and mythology. Known as a significant religious site dedicated to the goddess Venus, Erice invites you to wander its ancient streets, explore its beautifully preserved medieval architecture, and visit renowned pastry shops famous for marzipan candies, almond, and pistachio treats. Highlights of your visit include the Pepoli Castle, built by the Arabs, and the Venus Castle, a Norman structure standing on the site of the ancient Temple of Venus, said to have been founded by Aeneas.
For lunch, enjoy a delightful meal at a local farmhouse, featuring a tasting of mixed regional products.
In the afternoon, travel along the scenic Salt Way Road near Marsala, where you’ll marvel at the unique landscape of the saltpans. These historic basins, still in use today, showcase a centuries-old Phoenician tradition of sea-salt production. Windmills, some still functioning, dot the horizon, while piles of harvested salt covered with terracotta tiles add to the picturesque setting.
Your journey continues to Marsala, derived from the Arabic “Marsa Allah” or “Harbor of God.” Renowned worldwide for its Marsala wine, the region produces Italy’s oldest DOC wine, known for its rich flavor and high alcohol content of approximately 18%.
After a day filled with stunning landscapes, historic sites, and culinary delights, you’ll return to Palermo.
Day 6
Day 6 – From Palermo to Taormina: Discovering Cefalù
Your journey begins at 8:30 AM with a scenic drive to Cefalù, one of Sicily’s most captivating coastal towns and a must-visit destination for its unique blend of history, culture, and seaside charm. Nestled at the base of a dramatic cliff, Cefalù is renowned for its medieval character and iconic Cathedral, commissioned by Roger II in 1131. The Cathedral, with its stunning mosaics and tranquil cloister, is considered one of the most remarkable monuments on the island.
During your independent visit, immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of Cefalù by following a recommended walking itinerary that blends history and breathtaking views:
- Start at the Cefalù Seafront: Begin your exploration along Lungomare Giuseppe Giardina, offering stunning views of the sea and the imposing fortress overlooking the town. This tranquil walk sets the stage for your journey.
- Visit the Medieval Washhouse: Stroll down Via Vittorio Emanuele to discover this hidden gem, a beautifully preserved medieval washhouse where the waters of the Cefalino River once served the local community. The site is steeped in legend, said to originate from the tears of a grieving nymph.
- Pause at Porta Pescara: Just beyond the washhouse, admire one of the most iconic sea views in Cefalù. This picturesque spot is particularly magical at sunset, making it a perfect location for a memorable photo.
- Stop at the Capo Marchiafava Bastion: Continue along Via Carlo Ortolani di Bordonaro to reach this ancient fortification. The panoramic sea views here are breathtaking, providing another highlight of your visit.
- End at the Cathedral of Cefalù: Conclude your walk at Corso Ruggero, where the majestic Cathedral dominates the town hall square. Behind it, the towering fortress offers a dramatic backdrop, completing your exploration of this historic town.
After your visit, enjoy time for lunch at your leisure before continuing your journey to Taormina, Sicily’s world-famous resort town. With its cultural richness and scenic beauty, Cefalù sets the perfect tone for your day of discovery.
Day 7
Day 7 – Etna and Wine
Your adventure begins at 8:30 AM with an off-road journey to the majestic Etna Volcano, offering a day of breathtaking landscapes, geological wonders, and local flavors.
The first stop takes you to the Alcantara Gorges, a stunning canyon formed by prehistoric volcanic activity and shaped over millennia by the Alcantara River. With towering basalt cliffs reaching up to 30 meters, this natural marvel is a testament to Sicily’s dramatic geological history.
Next, you’ll visit the historic village of Castiglione di Sicilia, a charming medieval town perched atop a hill overlooking the Alcantara Valley. From here, the journey continues along Sicily’s renowned wine roads, crossing expansive vineyards that produce Etna D.O.C. wines. Arriving at a local winery, you’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch paired with exceptional wines, surrounded by the serene beauty of the countryside.
Afterward, you’ll explore the remnants of the 2002 lava flow, accessible by jeep along winding dirt roads through chestnut and oak forests. This eruption, one of the most explosive in recent history, shaped the landscape with its molten force.
The journey proceeds to the Ragabo pine forest, where you’ll discover the Corruccio lava cave, a fascinating formation hidden among the trees at 1,350 meters above sea level. Continuing along the scenic Mareneve road, you’ll ascend to Piano Provenzana, a ski resort situated at 1,800 meters. Here, you’ll take a short walk to visit the ruins of the Hotel Le Betulle, destroyed by the lava flow during the 2002 eruption.
This unforgettable day combines the raw power of nature, cultural charm, and the culinary treasures of Sicily, leaving you with memories of Etna’s unique wonders.
Day 8
Day 8 – Relax in Taormina
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure, allowing you to immerse yourself in the charm of Taormina at your own pace. Perched on a coastal bluff overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Taormina is Sicily’s most beloved resort town. Its ancient, narrow streets are lined with charming shops, cozy cafés, and inviting restaurants, creating a magical atmosphere that beckons visitors to explore its beauty.
Steeped in history, Taormina was settled in 395 BC by residents of Giardini-Naxos, Sicily’s oldest Greek colony, founded in 735 BC. This rich historical legacy is woven into the town’s character, making it a fascinating destination for both relaxation and discovery.
